DRAFT: Pharmacy Residency Program at UMass Memorial Medical Center
UMass Memorial Medical Center is a 900+ bed academic medical center and the flagship hospital of UMass Memorial Health, the largest healthcare system in Central Massachusetts. As the clinical partner of UMass Chan Medical School, our teams work at the forefront of innovation with access to advanced technology, leading research and active clinical trials.
Our four campuses — University, Memorial, Hahnemann and Marlborough — provide comprehensive care across more than 41 specialty areas. The Medical Center is home to the region’s only American College of Surgeons–verified Level I Trauma Center and the only Level III Neonatal ICU, offering pharmacy residents exposure to high-acuity, diverse patient populations.
Since launching our pharmacy residency program in 1995, pharmacists have become essential members of interdisciplinary care teams. With more than 300 pharmacy professionals, our department plays a central role in patient care through daily rounds, patient education, medication optimization, clinical guideline development, committee leadership, and quality and research initiatives.
We are committed to training that reflects the diversity of our residents and the communities we serve, with a strong emphasis on professional growth and well-being. Our Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) program offers four positions with three additional Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) opportunities in cardiology, critical care and medication-use safety and policy — providing a robust pathway for pharmacists seeking advanced clinical training and leadership development.
