Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship

The Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship is offered to medical school graduates who have completed an approved three-year pediatric residency or met Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education approved standards.

Information for Families

NICU Visiting Hours

You are welcome to be with your baby any time you’d like. The following guidelines provide a private and safe place for the families and babies.

  • All visitors must be with one of the infant's parents or guardian with appropriate identification.
  • All visitors and parents must sign the logbook at the front desk when arriving and sign out when leaving.
  • Two visitors at a time may be with the parents at the bedside.
  • Children under 16 who are not brothers or sisters of the baby may not go into the nursery but are welcome in the Family Lounge.

The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Children’s Medical Center is the region’s only Level III NICU, caring for extremely premature babies and newborns with complex medical needs. A Level III NICU is equipped to treat babies born as early as 22 weeks gestation. As a regional referral center, we also receive babies from other birthing centers who need the high level of care our team provides.

The UMass Memorial Medical Center – Children’s Medical Center PICU is the only one of its kind in the region. A highly skilled team supports children with complex medical needs, delivering advanced care in a safe and focused environment.

Many children in our PICU do not have serious conditions. We admit them to ensure they’re in the best hands if anything changes. Experts also care for patients with life-threatening issues. We keep an attentive watch over your child until they’re ready to move to a regular hospital room or go home.
 

Pediatric Inpatient Care

We know that children aren’t small adults. They have unique needs that need to be met. If your child is an inpatient at our UMass Memorial Medical Center – Children’s Medical Center, you can be assured that our caregivers have special training in caring for infants, children and adolescents.

Our 30-bed inpatient unit, located on our University Campus in Worcester, is child and family friendly. Pediatric inpatient care provided by pediatric hospital medicine specialists is also provided at HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital.
